The Summer Reading Program is under way!

Our Summer Reading Program is officially under way!

Not a contest, not a challenge, just a program designed to foster a love of daily reading, with the option of recruiting sponsors to earn money for new books!

Read for at least 20 minutes a day, five days a week for six weeks, then bring in your completed progress sheet anytime before the beginning of school- that’s nine weeks from today, folks- and collect some goodies!

Open to everybody aged 1 day to 17 years, 364 days…

Program paperwork available at the store, or drop me a message or email, and I’ll get one out to you.

Ready…

New Photography books

We got a couple interesting new photography books in today.

One is from internationally renowned photographer Sally Mann, whose startlingly authentic imagery of her children in Immediate Family introduced her to fame and controversy.

The other is… just silly, but fun.

Book Signing

On Saturday, June 18th, we will be having a book signing event.

At 2pm, anthropologist and College of William and Mary professor emerita Barbara J. King will be conducting a brief talk on emotions in animals, after which she will be signing copies of her books How Animals Grieve and Animals’ Best Friends until 4pm.

From 2 until 6 we will also have local author Nuala Galbari and her husband Dr. David Justis, who will be signing copies of their book The Woods of Wicomico, as well as displaying images and artifacts that inspired their writing.

Copies of all three books will be available for purchase during the signing, while supplies last. Come early to make sure that you get yours!
